Our People Inspire: Meet Chelsea

Here at Kalesnikoff, not only do we recognize that our people are our most valuable resource – they are also pretty cool individuals, each with their own story to tell. They are the people who inspire us and make what we do possible.  Today, we are excited to introduce you to our Safety Manager, Chelsea! Originally from Alberta, Chelsea has been with our company for two years. As a full-time employee, mom, weight trainer and MBA student with an active lifestyle, Chelsea is always on the go!

We sat down with Chelsea recently to learn a little more about her. Take a look below!

What are your interests outside of work:

  • Exercising (weight training, long distance running, CrossFit, hot yoga, skiing, snowboarding, hiking) and nutrition
  • Studying (MBA)
  • Spending time with my family/playing with my kids

What do you love most about the Kootenays?

The lifestyle and the mountains – skiing, snowboarding and hiking.

What do you love most about Kalesnikoff?

Kalesnikoff truly recognizes its people as the most valuable resource we have. It’s exemplified in our culture and the drive of our employees. There is a healthy balance of being rewarded and challenged with great opportunities for growth which is widely supported by leadership.

You have a background/education in marketing, what made you decide to get into safety?

The interdisciplinary skills of sales and marketing are entirely transferable to safety. The Safety role has allowed me to flex my creative skills to help strengthen our safety program. Marketing is all about identifying a need and recognizing where your product or service adds value. It’s about understanding your customer to provide tangible solutions. Safety is no different. I spend my time understanding the needs and risks of our organization and adopting solutions that most effectively manage our risks.

Why did you choose this industry?

As we have seen, the industry is going through a pivotal shift in which the utility of our products is increasing with the demand for sustainable solutions in the construction industry. It is a testament to the longevity and malleability of the wood products manufacturing industry and an exciting team to be working at Kalesnikoff.

What are you most looking forward to in your next year at Kalesnikoff?

Our first projects coming out of our mass timber facility and the growth that will come from that facet of our operations.
