Lodgepole Pine (Pinus contorta) is one of five western species of pine widely distributed throughout the Kootenay Interior wet belt region. The wood is light in color, ranging from yellow to cream to pale reddish-brown. It is straight grained, with a fine and uniform consistency. Lodgepole Pine is light in weight and of moderate to medium strength and hardness.
Lodgepole Pine is relatively easy to work with which makes it an excellent choice in the craftsmanship of fine wood furniture and construction of smaller wood products like paneling, moldings, cabinetry, entertainment centers, coffee and end tables, shelves and any other wood furniture one would have inside and outside their home.
