Douglas Fir (Pseudotsuga menziesii) is one of the most known, largest growing tree species that British Columbia and our area has to offer. Douglas fir is characterized by it's durability, stiffness and strength. Douglas Fir sap and heartwood have a distinct difference in color, with the sapwood being light in color and the heartwood ranging from yellowish to reddish brown.
It is used extensively for structural and general construction, heavy timber construction, and the manufacture of laminated beams. Other popular uses for Douglas Fir include window and door construction, paneling, flooring, furniture(indoor/outdoor), wood sculpture and any other wood furniture one would have inside and outside their home.
