Working together to keep our forests healthy and our communities vibrant
Kalesnikoff Lumber is a proud and active member within the communities of Castlegar, Nelson and Trail, BC. Supporting our communities is very important to us. Whether it’s a small donation for building community gardens or resurfacing our Historic Brilliant Suspension Bridge, we are committed to supporting local environmental initiatives, extra-curricular activities and programs that promote education, health and safety.
If you would like to submit a donation or sponsorship request, please contact us.
In an effort to ensure our corporate contributions are put to their most effective use, each request is reviewed and assessed on an individual basis. Here are a few examples of our previous projects:
Community Fundraising: We love to help out when we can, we often supply small community projects with loads of logs for the sale of firewood for their fundraising goals.
Kaslo Logger Sports – Logger Sports is run by volunteers and is sponsored by local businesses, groups and individuals. Kalesnikoff has been a long standing event sponsor of this unique Kootenay festival held In Kalso every May long weekend.
National Forest Week – At Kalesnikoff Lumber, we truly believe that forests are fundamental to our economy, culture, traditions and history – and to our future. We’re proud to sponsor an event where Canadians are invited to learn more about Canada’s forest heritage and that help raise awareness about this valuable and renewable resource.
Local Fire Departments – Kalesnikoff Lumber has provided the lumber for construction projects at local fire halls, as well as, community events. In the summer of 2014, we supplied the lumber to build the kids maze during the Castlegar Fireman’s Games.
Restoration of the 1913 Brilliant Bridge as a Historical Structure – Beginning in 1991, the Brilliant Bridge Restoration Project Building Group needed historians, engineers and lots of donations to bring one of BC’s oldest Suspension bridges back to its place of honor in our communities. Kalesnikoff Lumber was proud to supply the lumber needed for this restoration process. The Brilliant Bridge is now restored to its former glory and is open to the public. It is also now a historical part of the Trans-Canada Trail System.
Selkirk College: Kalesnikoff supplies our local Selkirk College Students with loads of logs for the production and sale of firewood for their fundraising goals and field trips. Kalesnikoff Lumber donated the lumber for the restoration and construction of the Mir Centre For Peace at Selkirk College. Working closely with our local College is very important to us.
First Nations Community Gardens: Kalesnikoff provided lumber for the construction of community gardens in our region to support and encourage youth and elders to work and grow together.
Haiti Earthquake: Kalesnikoff lumber matched employee’s donations to support our global neighbors. For the Haiti earthquake employees raised $3,540. With Kalesnikoff’s matching funds, we were able to donate over $7,000 to help.
